Let me finish your quilt right.

Machine Quilting

Edge-to-edge quilting
Edge-to-edge quilting designs enhance your quilt design and hold the layers together. I have hundreds of designs available to suit almost any design or occasion. If you would like a design that you do not see in my binder, just ask and I will locate it. There will be a fee of $10 for new designs.

Batting
I provide a high-quality 80/20 batting, and it's included in the quilting cost. If you'd prefer another type of batting, feel free to bring it along with your quilt and I'll credit the cost of batting. I also carry bamboo batting that is luxuriously soft and drape able. If you would prefer bamboo, there will be a slight upcharge. If you bring your own batting, make sure it's at least 3" larger than your quilt top on all sides.

Thread
I use Glide, Omni, and Innovatech threads, all excellent quality. Glide offers a bit of sheen, while Innovatech and Omni are flat threads. Thread is included in the cost of quilting.

Edge-to-edge Patterns

Pattern catalog
My edge-to-edge (E2E) catalog offers more than 120 patterns to choose from, and I add new patterns often. You can download my full PDF pattern catalog. NOTE: High-density patterns have an asterisk (*) by their name.

Pattern density
The pattern catalog marks high-density patterns with an asterisk (*) by the pattern name. The more dense a pattern is, the more thread it uses and the longer it takes to quilt. You can also affect the density of a pattern by changing its size. Shrinking a pattern increases its density, while enlarging a pattern decreases its density. In addition to helping you choose the right pattern for your quilt, I can help you decide the best size for that pattern.

New patterns
If you choose an E2E pattern I don't have in our library, I'll charge $10 to purchase and download that pattern and add it to our library. Most patterns cost more, but I cap the charge at $10 and cover the rest.

Other Services

Binding
I can construct a binding for your quilt with fabric you provide. I can prepare and attach the binding to the back, machine finish on front or attach to front so you can hand sew on back. There is a $.15 per inch charge for these services.

Backing
Make sure your quilt backing is at least 3" larger than your quilt top on all sides. This ensures that I have enough fabric to load the quilt onto the longarm machine. If you need to piece your backing, it's preferable (but not required) to have the seam run horizonal rather than vertical.

Masking
If you have a quilt with applique, pockets, patches or buttons that cannot be quilted through, I can mask around those items so that the edge-to-edge quilting goes around, rather than through them. I charge $5 per masked area.

Pricing

Edge-to-edge quilting (includes batting)

  Standard E2E High-density E2E
< 8,000 sq. in. $0.02 $0.022
> 8,000 sq. in. $0.018 $0.02

(price per square inch)

Pricing is based on the size of your quilt in square inches and the density of the pattern. Higher-density patterns use more thread and take longer to quilt. Larger quilts (>8,000 square inches) get a discount.

To calculate quilt size in square inches, multiply quilt length by width (both in inches).
For example: 72" x 96" = 6,912 square inches.

Prep for Success

Before you come

  • Your backing must be at least 3" larger than your quilt top on all sides.
  • For best results, press top and trim all threads.
  • Maximum quilt width is 120".
  • I can't always quilt out fullness/puckers, and they may be sewn in during quilting. Excessive fullness may cause the quilt to not be square and not lay flat.
